Day 4: 7.6.18

Hello all!!

Welcome to day 4 of MSCE! Thank you for coming along with us on our journey so far. It’s crazy how time flies when you’re learning and having so much fun! MSCE started off Friday morning asking, “Who is Jesus Christ?” in Bible Study led by our very own Taiwanese prince, Luke. By reading Ephesians 2:4-7, we were reminded of how God sent down His only Son Jesus Christ who died on the cross to save us. We started off our day with excitement as we discussed the love of Christ and of our salvation through faith in Him.

After Bible Study, we had breakfast while listening to touching testimonies of God’s evident grace from Shannon, Joyce, and Brandon. Everyone was truly moved at God’s provision and healing through each TA’s life as some of us were able to relate personally to the TA’s struggles. We are very thankful for the strength given to us by God to be able to be vulnerable in front of others to share about His goodness. May we continue to recognize how He works differently in each of our own lives!

Afterwards, we headed over to go listen to presentations from Barb about Women in Medicine, from Emily, Lily, and Naomi about legalization of Marijuana, and from Christy and Luke about Guns in the US. With time left over, each team was given time to talk about the controversial topics of legalization of Marijuana and gun violence/control in the US. It was great practicing English with the students and listening to different opinions!

Following lunch and free time, we got to have some time to make even more memories with our awesome teams. We headed to Shihsanhang Museum of Archaeology in Ba-li and checked out the culture of the Taiwanese indigenous people. We got to see wax figures of the indigenous people, the tools they used to hunt and cook, and the geography of their environment.  It was sure a good time having the opportunity to learn more about the culture of Taiwan alongside our team members.

Can you tell who’s imitating who?

For our last activity of the day, we went to the Shilin Night Market to enjoy the various foods and small shops. Each team separated ways to enjoy the delicious foods and to shop around on their own. Some notable foods that were tried were foods such as stinky tofu, Taiwanese fried chicken, snake soup, oyster omelet, authentic bubble tea, mango shaved ice, etc,… it was a feast! It was such a memorable time being able to go around and spend time with our teams (shout out to Team Wei!!!). The TAs really felt so loved as the MSCE students led the TAs around to try some of their favorite foods and waited as the TAs looked around the night market stores with curiosity. MSCE students have such caring hearts, and we are so thankful for their hospitality! You guys are so loved!!

This day was filled with adventurous memories with our teams, and we are all so excited to continue the week to learn and laugh more. Praise God for this opportunity to be able to experience such a joy with the MSCE students!
